Round 2 - MX Nationals @ Hawkstone Park

We came home to the UK this weekend to race round 2 of the MX Nationals at Hawkstone Park after a positive round 1 a few weeks ago. Saturday we had a difficult day, with a bike hitting Todd on lap 1 in the first race taking him to the ground and then an issue with the gates in race 2 meant Todd hit the gate and came from the back again. But a 4th and a 2nd considering the situations was ok.

Sunday, a lot more riders came down from the British championship, we had a lot of rain overnight and Todd must have had a good nights sleep. Race 1, Todd had a good start before taking the lead on lap 2 and staying there! His first pro mx1 race win against a strong field of riders! Race 2 - A strong contender of the field came across off the start and nearly took Todd and the rest of the field out half way up the start straight. So again towards the back of the pack but had a hard charge of a first lap and came round in about 9th position before picking his way upto 4th place.

This gave Todd the overall win for the weekend so his first Pro MX1 overall aswell.

A very positive weekend, Todd now leads the championship from Harri Kullas in 2nd position and Shaun Simpson in 3rd. We had no plans on competing in the full championship but are now trying to juggle things around so we can attend round 3 and see how the championship is looking after that round in regards to the remaining 2 rounds after that.

It’s been a busy few weeks with travelling and testing with the team on the beach race bike etc. So, we are having a week off the bike this week, we will be at Matterly MXGP this weekend but only spectating this year I’m afraid.
